You want to change the color of your hair but before that, you want to make sure whether coloring is safe for your hair or not. Hair color can damage your hair but you can avoid it. Stay tuned..

Hello, I’m Dr. Sajjad Khan.
For over 25 years I’ve seen thousands of my clients enjoy the confidence – that comes from having great-looking hair.
One thing people have been asking me lately is -whether coloring can damage their hair.
In Truth, coloring Can damage your hair –
But, it doesn’t have to –
Whether your hair is gray – or you simply want to change to a new color — with good preparation and the right products – coloring your hair can be a safe and simple process.
Most of the damage from coloring comes from – loss of moisture in the hair –
But, this can be greatly reduced – by following a healthy pre- and post-coloring regimen.
Coloring involves two parts of your hair – the cuticle – and the cortex. The cuticle is the outermost part of the hair – consisting of several transparent layers of overlapping scales.
The cortex lies below the cuticle and makes up – about 90% of the hair’s total volume.
The cortex is Also where the hair’s natural color – and moisture are stored.
During the coloring process, a two-part mixture is applied – that contains an ammonia-derivative to open the cuticle, allowing hydrogen peroxide and the color pigment to enter the cortex.
Once inside the cortex, the hydrogen peroxide does two things: it first neutralizes the existing pigment – and then, it swells the molecules of the new color pigment – so they no longer can escape through the open cuticle.
Afterward, a good conditioner helps close the cuticle to lock in the new color, along with moisture.
To prevent your new color from fading – and prolong the time until your next coloring, you should avoid shampoos with harsh sulfates that open the cuticle so much the color pigment can escape from the cortex.
Kerluxe shampoos help preserve color-treated hair by using a mild sulfate that opens the cuticle very little, keeping the color trapped in the cortex below.
Kerluxe Luminage Mask also provides a triple benefit for color-treated hair – Hyaluronic Acid draws moisture into the cortex, Marine Collagen
strengthens the hair structure, and Phyto-Ceramides close the outer cuticle, sealing in moisture and hydration. It works most effectively – when applied one week before – and a few days after coloring.
In summary, Maintaining healthy moisture levels in the hair is the most challenging part of the coloring process, and your hair can become dry and brittle if you’re not careful; but, with good products and planning, your hair can be just as expressive and vibrant as you are.
